The annual Loughborough University music scholarships celebrate the wealth of musical talent at the University. This year’s winners selected by open audition are Cheryl Higgins, Sophie Mower and Benedict Wood. The scholarship winners are performing a recital to showcase their talents. The recital is one of the most exciting concerts of the year showcasing new emerging talent that is of exceptional quality, and hearing a diverse mix of instruments and voice in one concert.

To coincide with the AfterGold
programme by Radar, which uses the forthcoming Olympics and the presence in Loughborough of teams from Great Britain and Japan as an opportunity to investigate Japanese culture. The day will feature Japanese music from taiko drumming to traditional string instruments and choirs. There will be a range of demonstrations from Aikido to So-ran Bushi dance as well as street performers, workshops and food stalls.

Traverse Creatives presents Scope, their third event showcasing work from emerging artists and designers in the East Midlands. The exhibition features a range of works from fashion and textiles to fine art
Traverse Creatives is a new events management organisation, dedicated to giving emerging artists, designers and craftspeople exposure through exhibitions and pop-up stores.

In partnership with the library, we have set up the University Book Talk club, a regular group which will meet to discuss and share selected texts. Titles are chosen by the group, as well as a shortlist of written work offered by Radar and linking to the current season of art commissions.
