There will be opportunities for others to perform their work by signing up to the open-mic slots available. If you wish to take part, please email Isobel Sigley at I.Sigley-15@student.lboro.ac.uk, or Emily White at e.f.white-15@student.lboro.ac.uk

This edition brings the following poets to the stage:

Imogen Downes

Imogen is a poet, writer, and theatre maker from Bristol. She has previously worked for Rife Magazine and is currently a member of Bristol Old Vic’s Made In Bristol scheme. Her work, which has been shared in a number of venues across the UK, is influenced by the rawness of performance poetry and her experiences as a young woman. Having developed from a background in theatre, she draws on her experiences in storytelling and playwriting to create a strong blend of engaging performance and powerful writing. Whether humorous or cuttingly serious, Imogen’s work always aims to reveal something about the human condition; transcending everyday experiences to lay bare what it means to be human and to be treated inhumanely.

“Infectiously energetic and pink-haired glory” - Epigram

“Imogen Downes turns phrases as fast as she's turning heads. Her poetry sharpens bright, playful images into dark twists of metaphor that leave their mark.” - Beth Calverley

MiKo Berry

MiKo Berry is a spoken word poet from Edinburgh who performs all over Europe and has won awards in 6 different countries. Equal parts hilarious and heart-warming, even when tackling tough subjects such as depression and loss, there is a positivity and hopefulness throughout his work that always seems to shine through.

After winning the Scottish Slam title in 2014, he went on to win the European Slam Championship the following year. He has performed for the BBC, ITV, Glastonbury Music Festival and even the Royal Family.

"The way Berry works a crowd is tremendous" - Ed Grimble

"So I hear you're a Poet" - Prince Phillip
