We are delighted by the news that Loughborough market has won best large outdoor market at the British Market of the Year Awards 2017. The awards were held by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) and saw markets across the country battle it out to win a coveted award. Loughborough Market was praised for supporting traders with innovative ideas such as ‘Try a Trade’ offer, which allows people have a free stall on the market for a day and 50 per cent off a stall for three months, to help local entrepreneurs grow their business.
The awards also recognised the market’s work with the University. We were delighted to hear a mention of the project that took place last year involving traders spending a day on campus for the 'University Market' followed by academic staff holding a series of special lectures in the market place for the 'Market Lectures' series. This particular project was part of the Radar project Market Town which involved work with design collective Something & Son.
