Big hit for Play Loughborough

The newly open Market Town Corner was christened with a day of amazing creativity as artist Ruth Catlow brought her Play Your Place concept to the people of Loughborough! This iteration of the concept, Play Loughborough, took place on Saturday 22nd August and was open for anyone to drop in and take part.

Play Your Place is an event that has been run in several locations, including London and Southend-on-Sea. It invites its participants to develop a collective vision for the place they live by creating drawings and sharing their thoughts and ideas. These are then transformed into the characters, landscape, rules, obstacles, and objectives of an interactive online game.

Themed prompt cards which suggested possible places, people, and situations provided a fantastic jumping-off point, and resulted in some highly imaginative (and often truly bizarre) visions of the future Loughborough.

The drop-in nature of the event meant that we were privileged to hear a wide range of ideas and concerns about the town, and to benefit from a range of perspectives. By the end of the day, we had a huge pile of beautifully colourful and inventive drawings that are sure to make a fantastic game - we can't wait to try it out!

The game is currently under construction, but once completed with be available online for anyone to change or add to as they wish. Watch this space for updates!
